Era's night in ft. intro to meditation

This past weekend we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Kristen Antunes & Danica Slattery into Era Style Loft to enlighten us with an introduction to meditation.  The entire Era team was new to meditation so this was a very fun and easy environment for us to get started.

I think we were were all amazed by the power of meditation and in some aspect learned how it could become part of our daily lives.

For me in particular this experience has taught me the importance of being mindful through all movements in life, to be responsive not reactive and to be truly present in your interactions with others.

Thanks again to these lovely ladies for coming into our space and sharing their expertise.  It was such a fabulous experience and I strongly recommend inviting them into your homes or workplaces for a unique team building workshop, girls night or to simply just learn more about how you can incorporate meditation into your life!

Visit Kristen's website to learn more or contact them at hi@kristenantunes.com.

Back to basics ft. cold weather essentials

Winter weather is here and with the snow on the ground its 100% time to shift to sweaters and cold weather essentials.

My favourite basic winter essentials include the Equipment V-neck Asher sweater (here),  Current/Elliott leather leggings (similar here) and Joie Akemi boots (here).  Layering is key so the addition of my favourite new jacket (here) adds texture and a unique twist to my basics.

Julie's Travel Outfit Diary

I recently took the most amazing trip overseas with my husband of 5 years (a little anni celebration). While I’m not sure I reeeaaally knew what I was in for as my husband did ALL of the planning but I tried my best to pack the cutest, most practical outfits I could think of.  As I was packing Mark (aka. my husband) came in to remind me – soooo….we need good, like getting around in clothes, right?! Haha while it made me laugh, it also made me revisit my suitcase. However, I have to admit as a general rule comfort usually does take precedence in my life.  I find if I don't keep that as a high priority my purchases will tend to just sit in my closet.

My top 5 must haves (and most worn peices):

  1.  White Sneakers
  2. Leather Jacket
  3. Denim
  4. Backpack
  5. Double Duty pieces - Easy Dresses
White Sneakers | I actually didn't plan to wear my white sneakers NEAR as much as I did! They just seemed to go with everything and were super comfortable to be on my feet all day touring.  This is my definite #1 must have for everyone.  They were perfect for travelling but are even more perfect for my everyday life.  (Shop white sneakers here

Leather Jacket | Just like my life, a leather jacket is still my favourite way to keep warm.   Drape it over your shoulders for an effortless look or pair it back to literally ANYTHING!! (Shop similar style here)

Denim | Keeping my suitcase as light as possible I chose two different options for my denim.  The Mother Denim Vamp Fray in crazy like a fox and my Current/Eliott Original Straight jeans. (Shop Denim options here

Backpack | I actually purchased my Rebecca Minkoff backpack years ago and just really started to get some use out of it the past few months.  It has quickly become my favourite bag to stay hands free! Also when your travelling around all day its nice to have something on your back versus your shoulder just for ease and comfort.  (Shop backpack options in store)

Double Duty Looks | One of my favourite purchases this summer was my Equipment wrap dress/kimono and it was absolutely prefect for this trip.  It was super easy to throw on for an evening dinner as a dress or as a kimono over a basic denim cutoff/cami combo.  (Shop Kimonos in store)
