I recently took the most amazing trip
overseas with my husband of 5 years (a little anni celebration). While I’m not
sure I reeeaaally knew what I was in for as my husband did ALL of the planning
but I tried my best to pack the cutest, most practical outfits I could think
of. As I was packing Mark (aka. my husband)
came in to remind me – soooo….we need good, like getting around in clothes,
right?! Haha while it made me laugh, it also made me revisit my suitcase.
However, I have to admit as a general rule comfort usually does take precedence
in my life. I find if I don't keep that as a high priority my purchases will tend to just sit in my closet.
My top 5 must haves (and most worn peices):
- White Sneakers
- Leather Jacket
- Double Duty pieces - Easy Dresses
| I actually didn't plan to wear my white sneakers NEAR as much as I did! They just seemed to go with everything and were super comfortable to be on my feet all day touring. This is my definite #1 must have for everyone. They were perfect for travelling but are even more perfect for my everyday life. (Shop white sneakers here
| Just like my life, a leather jacket is still my favourite way to keep warm. Drape it over your shoulders for an effortless look or pair it back to literally ANYTHING!! (Shop similar style here
| Keeping my suitcase as light as possible I chose two different options for my denim. The Mother Denim Vamp Fray in crazy like a fox and my Current/Eliott Original Straight jeans. (Shop Denim options here
Backpack | I actually purchased my Rebecca Minkoff backpack years ago and just really started to get some use out of it the past few months. It has quickly become my favourite bag to stay hands free! Also when your travelling around all day its nice to have something on your back versus your shoulder just for ease and comfort. (Shop backpack options in store)
Double Duty Looks | One of my favourite purchases this summer was my Equipment wrap dress/kimono and it was absolutely prefect for this trip. It was super easy to throw on for an evening dinner as a dress or as a kimono over a basic denim cutoff/cami combo. (Shop Kimonos in store)
Our gorgeous era girl/model stepped out the other night with the talented Caraleigh Currie (@photographybycaraleigh) sdwf- ln to capture some of our favourite must have pieces of the season.
1. The Odette Velvet Robe by Equipment - in our opinion one kimono is never enough! The most sought after style of the season has hit the floor of Era Style Loft in full force. The fabulous option is trending double time as velvet is the fabric of fall (and winter too). We love this option worn as shown or as the topper to your already awesome outfit.
2. The Isabelle Jeans by AG - these straight leg jeans are the newest must have style. Trade in your skinnes for another denim option to add into the mix (& an instant wardrobe update!!).
3. Saleema Boots by Joie - Gold boots…need we say more. The best boot style to pair back to the trending straight leg jeans. When you have boots like this your outfit is alway anything but boring.

To say we love New York would be an understatement. September and February are two of the best months of the year! We get to pack our bags and head to our favourite city for the newest fashion to bring back to Saskatoon. Every time we come back refreshed, inspired and filled with 'life-changing' ideas. I think this time we both decided it was time to cut our hair ;)
Along with the fashion the food is is a close second…or first. We love eating in the newest spots, classic New York favourites and hidden gems that are scattered throughout the city.
Day 1: We hit the pavement to our first appointment of the day. The Dannijo Showroom. Always a favourite and conveniently located above a great coffee shop and one of our favourite places to stop for a quick bite!
We also had a short pit stop at Lauderee between appointments because, well…we had to!
Day 2: We started the day off with a classic New York brunch - A note: 8:30am is FAR too early for brunch…especially in New York. It was like a ghost town…The saying 'New York never sleeps' should really be 'New York sleeps from 4am-11am'. After our quiet breakfast (yes, I will finally admit we just had breakfast) we continued on our busy day of appointments.
Luckily we finished early for aprés work cocktails at The Standard AND The Chelsea market before heading off to dinner at a New York classic Buddakan (a must for any Sex and the City fan).
Day 3: The less exciting, possibly more productive Coterie starts. This is were the magic happens.
We hit up the cutest little hidden gem in the West Village recommended by a friend (Mary)…and it was delicious!!
